What is Reiki
The word “Reiki” means “mysterious atmosphere, miraculous sign.” It comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning life energy.
Reiki energy (often described as “universal life energy” or “spiritual energy”) is accessed by the practitioner during a treatment. It enhances the body’s natural healing ability and promotes rest and wellbeing. Reiki aims to improve the flow of energy and remove blocks, Reiki practitioners believe that improving the flow of energy around the body can enable relaxation, reduce stress and anxiety, relieve pain, promote healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness.
Used as a stand alone healing practice or as a complimentary healing practice Reiki safely supports orthodox and complementary medicine. Reiki does not interfere with or diminish the intended effects of other health or medical practices if anything it only enhances these practices. Reiki treatments are now increasingly accepted in health and community care facilities including hospitals, hospices and cancer support units.
In a typical treatment the client remains fully clothed and begins lying face up, they may discuss the clients ailment or issue being addressed, the practitioner uses various hand positions to lightly touch or hover above various parts of the client’s body, Throughout the session, the practitioner focuses specifically on the intent for healing. they don’t presume to know what that is, they let reiki do what it needs to do.
